Additional ruling information for the new cards in SR14.

 

 

SR14-JPP01 Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings

【Regarding the effect “If this card is Xyz Summoned: You can destroy all other monsters on the field.”】
■ It is a Trigger Effect that can be activated in the Monster Zone.

【Regarding the effect “You can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 Spell/Trap on the field; destroy it, and if you do, this card gains 500 ATK.”】
■ It is an Ignition Effect that can be activated in the Monster Zone.
■ When resolving this effect, destroy the targeted card. If it is successfully destroyed, the effect “this card gains 500 ATK” will be applied to this face-up card in the Monster Zone.
■ Destroying the targeted card and increasing this card’s ATK occur simultaneously.
■ After applying this effect, if this card leaves the Monster Zone, changes to face-down Defense Position, or if its effects are negated, it no longer gains ATK from this effect.

【Regarding the effect “If this card is destroyed while it has material: You can Special Summon “Fire King” monsters from your GY, up to the number of materials this card had.”】
■ It is a Trigger Effect.
■ If this card with Xyz Material is destroyed by battle, it can be activated at the end of the Damage Step.
■ It can be also activated even if this card with Xyz Material is destroyed by a card effect during the Damage Step.

 

SR14-JPP02 Legendary Fire King Ponix

【Regarding the effect “If your monster(s) that was originally FIRE is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.”】
■ It is a Trigger Effect that can be activated in the hand.
■ It can also be activated during the Damage Step.

【Regarding the effect “If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Fire King” Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand.”】
■ It is a Trigger Effect that can be activated in the Monster Zone.
■ It can also be activated during the Damage Step.

【Regarding the effect “During the next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed and sent to the GY: Add this card from the GY to your hand.”】
■ It is a Trigger Effect that activates in the GY.
■ It is mandatory to activate.
■ It activates if this card is in the GY during the next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed and sent to the GY.

 

SR14-JP001 Sacred Fire King Garunix

【Regarding the effect “If your monster(s) that was originally FIRE is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon this card from your GY (if it was there when the monster was destroyed) or hand (even if not).”】
■ It is a Trigger Effect that can be activated in the hand or GY.
■ It can also be activated during the Damage Step.

【Regarding the effect “If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can destroy 1 FIRE Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast monster in your hand, Deck, or face-up field, except “Sacred Fire King Garunix”, and if you do, this card gains ATK equal to half the destroyed monster’s ATK it had there, until the end of this turn.”】
■ It is a Trigger Effect that can be activated in the Monster Zone.
■ It can also be activated during the Damage Step.
■ When resolving this effect, destroy 1 FIRE Beast/Beast-Warrior/Winged Beast monster in your hand, Deck, or face-up field. If it is successfully destroyed, the effect “this card gains ATK equal to half the destroyed monster’s ATK it had there” is immediately applied to this card.
■ You can choose a monster to destroy regardless of its ATK.
■ The effect “this card gains ATK equal to half the destroyed monster’s ATK it had there” is applied by referring to the destroyed monster’s ATK at the time it was destroyed. SR14-JP002 Fire King High Avatar Kirin

【Regarding the effect “During the Main Phase, if this card is in your hand (Quick Effect): You can destroy 1 other FIRE monster in your hand or face-up field, and if you do, Special Summon this card.”】
■ It is a Quick Effect that can be activated in the hand.
■ Even if you do not have an available Main Monster Zone, you can activate this effect as long as you have a face-up FIRE monster in your Main Monster Zone.
■ When resolving this effect, destroy 1 other FIRE monster in your hand or face-up field. If it is successfully destroyed and you have an available Main Monster Zone, Special Summon this card.
■ When resolving this effect, if you do not have an available Main Monster Zone, you must destroy a FIRE monster in your Main Monster Zone so that you have a zone to Special Summon this card to. If you do not have a FIRE monster in your Main Monster Zone at that time, destroy a FIRE monster in your hand or Extra Monster Zone.
■ If a monster is successfully destroyed, but you still do not have an available Main Monster Zone, place this card in your GY to finish resolving the effect.
■ Destroying a monster and Special Summoning this card occur simultaneously.

■ When resolving this effect, Special Summon 1 “Fire King” monster from your hand or GY. Then, if it was successfully Special Summoned, you can destroy 1 card on the field.
■ Special Summoning a monster and destroying a card on the field do not occur simultaneously.

 

SR14-JP003 Fire King Avatar Hanuman

【Regarding the effect “If a face-up “Fire King” monster(s) you control is destroyed by card effect: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.”】
■ It is a Trigger Effect that can be activated in the hand.
■ It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.

【Regarding the effect “When a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated while this monster is on the field (Quick Effect): You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy 1 other FIRE monster in your hand or face-up field.”】
■ It is a Quick Effect that can be activated in the Monster Zone.
■ When a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated, it can be activated by chaining directly to that activation.
■ It can also be activated during the Damage Step.
■ When resolving this effect, negate the activation. If the activation is successfully negated, destroy 1 other FIRE monster in your hand or face-up field.
■ Negating the activation and destroying a monster occur simultaneously.

 

SR14-JP024 Sanctuary of the Fire Kings

【Regarding the effect “When this card is activated: You can place 1 “Fire King Island” from your Deck face-up in your Field Zone.”】
■ It is the effect applied when this card’s activation resolves. (If you activate this card from your hand, or if you activate this card that was Set in the Spell & Trap Zone, it can be applied when resolving the Chain Link made by this card’s activation.)
■ You choose whether or not to apply this effect when resolving the Chain Link made by this card’s activation.

【Regarding the effect “Once per turn, if a card in your Field Zone would be destroyed by card effect, you can destroy 1 FIRE monster in your hand or face-up field instead.”】
■ It does not start a Chain and can be applied while this card is face-up in the Field Zone.
■ If a card in your Field Zone would be destroyed by a card effect, you can choose and destroy 1 FIRE monster in your hand or face-up field instead of destroying that card. However, if another card would be destroyed at the same time as the card in the Field Zone, you cannot choose that monster to be destroyed instead.
■ Choose a card to destroy instead from among cards that can be destroyed. (Cards that cannot be destroyed by card effects cannot be chosen.) Also, you cannot apply another “instead of destroying” effect to the card being destroyed instead.
■ If a card in your Field Zone would be “destroyed instead” of another card, this effect cannot be applied.

【Regarding the effect “Once per turn, if your opponent Special Summons a monster(s), you can (except during the Damage Step): Immediately after this effect resolves, Xyz Summon 1 FIRE Xyz Monster using only “Fire King” monsters you control as material.”】
■ It starts a Chain and can be activated while this card is face-up in the Spell & Trap Zone.
■ It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.
■ The Xyz Monster is Xyz Summoned immediately after resolving the Chain Link made by activating this effect.

 

SR14-JP025 Fire King Sacred Immolation

【Regarding the effect “Target the same number of “Fire King” monsters you control and cards your opponent controls; destroy them.”】
■ It is the effect applied when this card’s activation resolves.
■ It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.
■ When resolving this effect, even if some of the targeted cards are no longer present, the effect is applied to the remaining targeted cards.

【Regarding the effect “If a “Fire King” card(s) you control would be destroyed by card effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead.”】
■ It does not start a Chain and can be applied in the GY.
■ If a face-up “Fire King” card would control would be destroyed by a card effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead of destroying that card. However, if the face-up “Fire King” card you control would be “destroyed instead” of another card, this effect cannot be applied.

 

SR14-JP033 Solidarity Strike of the Fire Kings

【Regarding the effect “Special Summon 1 FIRE Beast, 1 FIRE Beast-Warrior, and 1 FIRE Winged Beast monster (1 each from your hand, Deck, and GY), but negate their effects, also destroy them during the End Phase.”】
■ It is the effect applied when this card’s activation resolves.
■ It can only be activated if you have 3 or more available Main Monster Zones.
■ It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.
■ When resolving this effect, Special Summon 1 FIRE Beast monster, 1 FIRE Beast-Warrior monster, and 1 FIRE Winged Beast monster from your hand, Deck, and GY. The Special Summoned monsters are immediately affected by the effect “negate their effects, also destroy them during the End Phase”.
■ Choose 3 monsters to Special Summon, one from your hand, Deck, and GY each. The 3 monsters’ Types must be Beast, Beast-Warrior, and Winged Beast.
■ If a monster Special Summoned by this effect leaves the Monster Zone or changes to face-down Defense Position, the effect “negate their effects, also destroy them during the End Phase” is no longer applied to it.

【Regarding the effect “You can banish this card from your GY; this turn, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects when your “Fire King” monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned.”】
■ It starts a Chain and can be activated in the GY.
■ It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.

 

As a minor note, physical copies Coach Captain Bearman printed in this Structure Deck erroneously say that the card can only be used as material for the Xyz Summon of a Beast-Warrior monster, instead of a FIRE Warrior monster. Konami has acknowledged this was a printing error, apologizes for any inconvenience, and the correct text is still recorded on the OCG Database. (OCG players can also send their copies in for a free replacement if they wish.)
