TOKYO — The yen briefly fell past 150 against the dollar late Tuesday night despite the Japanese government’s jawboning to tame the slide, as investors expect the U.S. Federal Reserve to keep interest rates high.

The yen reached the lower 150 range against the dollar just after 11 p.m. here before quickly strengthening past the 148 mark. It has since hovered around the 149 range.
