A woman has been awarded for her long years of service to a charity.

He said: “I want to thank Jackie for twenty years of dedicated, professional service to the Trust.

“It has been a great comfort to me and to the wider trustees to know that our finances have been overseen and managed by someone as thorough and at the same time, as personable as Jackie.”

Jackie said: “I came from a firm of accountants. A job which I loved. I wasn’t looking to move but the advert stood out when I was flicking through the local paper. I decided to apply and let fate play its part.

“This meant that I could still work in finance, which is what I enjoy doing. The job appealed to me because I could be part of a team that works towards making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged people.

“I enjoy working for the charity and love the experience of the challenges we constantly face. I am part of a team that helps people in a time of need.

“Seeing the changes in young people when they are ready to move on is something that will stay with me for life. The job gives me a great sense of satisfaction.”

Newark Emmaus Trust ceo Nicola Burley recognised Jackie’s work and thanked her help with fundraising and other aspects which she willingly does outside her role.

The trust provides accommodation, support and training for homeless young people aged stare 16 and 25, including pregnant teenagers, young parents and their babies.

All accommodation is in Newark and includes shared houses for young people of the same gender, shared houses for young people of mixed gender, self-contained flats and houses for parents and their babies or family units.
