Wife of Putin’s defence deputy is allowed to sneak into UK by Eurostar

Britain has allowed entry to the glamorous wife of Vladimir Putin’s brutal deputy defence minister, a man intimately linked to his barbaric aggression in Ukraine.

The minister Timur Ivanov’s stepson is believed to be studying at a UK university – safe from the conscription that has seen tens of thousands of young Russians killed after being forced to fight.

Svetlana Maniovich – fond of posing semi-nude in the Maldives – now lives a life of sumptuous luxury in France with evident access to Britain posing as the cruel defence chief’s ‘ex-wife’, but Russian opposition campaigners insist their divorce was a ruse to avoid sanctions and that they remain a couple.

They are demanding she is urgently sanctioned by the West alleging that her wealth is based on large-scale military corruption linked to Putin’s war.

At least once during the war she travelled business class by Eurostar to London to visit her son Mikhail, 19, who studies at a university in England.

This suggests she has held a UK visa or residence permit enabling entry despite her known close personal and financial links to sanctioned Ivanov, 47, deputy and close associate to Putin’s defence minister Sergei Shoigu.

The stepson who has shared skiing trips with Ivanov, and been seen with him at Moscow social events, lists himself as studying business management at Oxford Brookes University.

Her Eurostar trip came before the couple’s ‘sham’ divorce in August 2022.

Svetlana’s ostentatious display of luxury has become notorious in Europe, highlighted by the FBK investigative team of jailed Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Putin’s most prominent political foe.

They are organising a protest outside her Paris home tomorrow demanding moves ‘to sanction their family, freeze their assets and kick them out of Europe’.

FBK provided evidence from a leaked email trove of her Eurostar trip to London on 23 March last year, a night when Kyiv was shelled by Ivanov’s forces.

The ex-TV star, 51, rents expensive villas in St Tropez and prefers to travel by Rolls-Royce.

Videos from Navalny’s team expose the couple’s affluent lifestyle.

Her plans for a VIP yacht in Italy led to her being hailed as ‘an invaluable client who is very important for the Italian economy’.

Navalny’s team say she and her husband – seen as one of Putin’s wealthiest ministers – underwent a ‘divorce-of-convenience’ to enable the couple to cheat sanctions.

‘We could not find any evidence of the reality of the breakup between [Svetlana] and Ivanov,’ said the team.

‘On the contrary – shortly before the divorce [Svetlana] changed her name to Ivanova [the female version of his surname].’

Navalny aide Maria Pevchikh posted: ‘This is Svetlana Maniovich.

‘She is your guide to the world of extreme Russian glamour.

‘She radiates richness. Diamonds, furs, Rolls Royces – she has it all and more.

‘In summer you can find her in St Tropez where she rents a villa for €150k/month, or on a yacht in Naples…’She loves shopping. Sadly, Moscow doesn’t satisfy her fashion needs, so she has to travel to Paris.

‘She gets personal appointments at one of the most expensive and discrete fine jewellery stores. This is where she gets €150K earrings and €104K rings made for her.’Isn’t it lovely? Well, not quite. Svetlana Maniovich is the wife of the Russian Deputy Minister of Defence.

‘The person responsible for invading Ukraine and killing thousands of innocent people.

‘His name is Timur Ivanov.’

A video shows Maniovich three weeks ago partying in Courchevel – 13 months into the war with FBK alleging she has no independent source of income than Ivanov.

‘She is in the heart of Europe, wearing her diamonds and furs. How did the wife of a war criminal sneak into France? Let me tell you.’There wasn’t much sneaking involved. As insane as it sounds, she is totally allowed to come to the EU and walk up and down the Champs-Élysées spending the money her husband made by bombing apartment blocks, killing children and beheading soldiers in Ukraine.’She doesn’t have any other money.

‘She is a woman of leisure and requires sponsorship.’

Her ex-husband told how she required at least $50,000 USD spending money a month.

One dress from Dolce&Gabbana dress cost €59,500.

Ivanov is charged by Putin with rebuilding Ukrainian city Mariupol which was blitzed by the Russian army, and is the scene of multiple alleged war crimes.

‘We at the Anti-Corruption Foundation are willing to resubmit piles of documents and proofs,’ she said, demanding sanctions against Maniovich.

‘I am willing to speak, meet or testify in court – whatever is needed to get the legal process going. ‘

Apart from Mikhail, the couple share two daughters – Praskovya, born 2018, and Darya, born 2010.
