For the smooth functioning of a crime syndicate, the requirement of associates and trustable faces is a mandate. Dreaded crime boss John Gotti too has several associates. However, a woman named Andrea Giovino was one of his closest ones. In the trailer of the Netflix mini-series titled Get Gotti, Giovino explained how New York City was the hub for criminals in the late 20th century.

She says, “New York in the 80s was the perfect time to be a criminal. You can get away with everything.”

Giovino got arrested in 1992 alongside John Gotti but officials soon dropped charges against her. The FBI wanted to join the Witness Protection program, however, she decided to shift to a quiet suburb in Pennsylvania. She eventually managed to transform her life here.

Andrea Giovino’s biography in brief

A 21-year-old Andrea Giovino met John Gotti in a New York nightclub. This particular club was infamous for having several suspicious clientele. According to Women’s Health, on that fateful night, Gotti and his associate Mark Reiter invited the 21-year-old woman and her sister to spend time in the VIP section of the club.

Mark Reiter was one of Gotti’s most trusted associates as he looked over the Gambino crime family’s heroin business. Reiter and Giovino formed an inseparable bond and eventually began dating. They even moved in together. However, this relationship ran its course when Reiter was sentenced to 260 years in prison for drug trafficking.

Even though Giovino and Gotti hardly interacted with each other, the woman was well aware of the workings of the crime ring. She was responsible for attracting rich and powerful people to the syndicate.

After the FBI dropped charges against her, she moved to Pennsylvania and completely transformed her life. She joined the Parent-Teacher Association, a church. She is currently leading a stable life as a grandparent and shares updates about her life regularly on Instagram.
