After a post-World Cup break, a refreshed Dani Alves has reported for Pumas preseason training ahead of the Clausura 2023 tournament, as Los Felinos look to bounce back from an Apertura 2022 campaign in which they failed to make the postseason playoffs.
Alves takes new Pumas number
Before facing Juárez in their opening game on Sunday, Pumas have confirmed their players’ squad numbers – and the most notable news is the change to the shirt Alves will wear. The Brazilian former Barcelona player, who was the team’s No. 33 during the Apertura 2022, will now have No. 77 on his back.
Jesús Molina, the most recent addition to Rafael Puente del Río’s squad, will wear No. 19. The experienced player is embarking on his third spell at one of the Liga MX’s ‘big four’ teams, having previously turned out for Club América and Chivas Guadalajara.
Youth quartet promoted to first team
Meanwhile, youth-team players Brian Figueroa, Edgar Alaffita, Marco García and Carlos Gutiérrez have all been promoted to the senior squad for the Clausura 2023.
