Watchdog tells CIGL, UIL to reschedule budget strike – English

[ad_1]

(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 13 – Italy’s strike watchdog on Monday
told trade unions CIGIL and UIL to reschedule their 24-hour
November 17 strike against the government’s budget bill.

Ruling that the stoppage did not meet the requirements for a
general strike, the guarantee commission ordered the two
federations to make sure essential public services were not
unduly disrupted this coming Friday.

The strike has pitted the unions against Deputy Premier and
Transport Minister Matteo Salvini who has said they have no
right to strike against the budget and has said he will order
transport workers back to work this Friday.

The other main union, CISL, has said it may strike later this
month after going over the full text of the budget bill.
