  • O’Melveny & Myers asked a New York federal judge to award American Airlines more than $139 million in legal fees after its $1 trial victory in a decade-long antitrust dispute against flight booking company Sabre Corp. Sabre’s counsel, Skadden, argued last year that the airline shouldn’t be able to get fees. (Reuters)

  • The Texas Supreme Court ruled that a law firm does not have the right to force a fired lawyer to return his shares in the firm and redeem them at zero value. (Texas Lawyer)
  • General counsel at private equity firms with over $10 billion in assets under management earn annual median compensation of $1.19 million, and 90% of the attorneys are eligible to share in the firm’s profits, with an expected “carry value” of $9 million.   • Greenberg Traurig snagged London-based Baker Botts energy attorney Shashank Krishna as partner and to lead its energy practice in the city.   • Baker McKenzie in Sydney, Australia, added two construction and energy partners from Norton Rose Fulbright, including Emanuel Confos, who led Norton Rose’s Australia construction and engineering team, according to a report. (Global Legal Post)
  • Veon, an Amsterdam, Netherlands-based mobile connectivity and services provider, named acting group general counsel Omiyinka Doris, a former Big Law corporate finance attorney, to permanent group GC. She’s also a member of the company’s group executive committee since October 2022. She earlier spent three years at Brazilian mining and metals company Vale S.A. as chief counsel, Africa, based in Mozambique. (Veon)
