- Insurance coverage lawyers Meredith Werner, Leslie Ahari, and Douglas Mangel launched their own Washington-based insurance law boutique. The firm, Werner Ahari Mangel LLP, starts with 22 lawyers, most arriving from UK Big Law firm Clyde & Co, including six more founding partners. (WAM.law)
- Morgan Lewis’ German arbitration team left to start its own law boutique, Aurelius Cotta, based in Frankfurt. The new firm is led by partner Sabine Konrad, who is known for representing the Federal Republic of Germany in a major arbitration against Swedish energy company Vattenfall. (Juve.de)
- Girl Scouts of the USA recruited New York Finance Department deputy commissioner and general counsel Diana Beinart as its new general counsel. Beinart, a former White House counsel, federal tax prosecutor, and Williams & Connolly attorney, succeeds Jennifer Rochon, who was confirmed last year to a New York federal judgeship. - Crowell & Moring’s Washington landlord told a District of Columbia Superior Court judge the firm is not entitled to a refund of $30 million in rent Crowell says it paid during the Covid-19 pandemic but should have been able to abate. (Reuters)
- Womble Bond Dickinson said it moved into new office space in Houston, Texas, where it opened in 2019 and has around 45 legal professionals, including 22 lawyers. (WombleBondDickinson.com)
- Fallen film producer Harvey Weinstein, in prison for his convictions for rape and sexual assault, hired the attorney who got Bill Cosby’s rape conviction overturned. (Variety)

- Blank Rome poached a seven attorney international trade practice group from McDermott Will & Emery in Washington. The group, which also includes an economic adviser and a trade manager, is led by partners Joanne E. Osendarp and Eric Parnes. Osendarp becomes the group’s co-chair joining existing co-chair Anthony Rapa. (BlankRome.com)
- Milbank LLP grabbed longtime Paul Weiss finance and restructuring partner Lawrence Wee as a partner in its alternative investments group in New York. He started at Paul Weiss in 1995. (Milbank)
- Ropes & Gray hired longtime Kirkland private funds lawyer Warren Goodworth as partner in Chicago in its 300-plus lawyer global asset management practice. At Kirkland, Goodworth was recently in Salt Lake City and has a particular focus on advising clients in the western US. (RopesGray.com)
- Manatt Phelps & Phillips added two veteran litigators as partners in its trial, white collar, and investigations practice in Boston. Joan Lukey arrives from Choate Hall & Stewart, where she was chair of the complex trial and appellate group. She earlier spent close to 34 years at WilmerHale. - Crowell promoted former Gibson Dunn litigator Alma Asay to be its first chief innovation and value officer. Asay, who founded and led a legal tech company that was acquired by alternative legal services provider Integreon Inc., joined Crowell in 2021 as its senior director of practice innovation and client value. - Istari, a cybersecurity company owned by Singapore state investment firm Temasek, hired veteran tech company legal and operations in-house leader Tom McCabe as chief operating officer and general counsel. He arrives from nuclear component and fuel provider BMX Technologies, Inc., where he was senior vice president, GC, chief compliance officer, and secretary. (Gov.con)
