Vodafone Idea Thursday appointed Aditya Birla group chief Kumar Mangalam Birla as an additional non-executive and non-independent director. This paves the way for Birla’s return to the company’s board after two years.

Birla stepped down as non-executive chairman and director of Vodafone Idea in August 2021.
“The Board of Directors of the company has, at its meeting held today, appointed Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, as an Additional Director (Non-Executive and Non-Independent) with effect from 20 April 2023,” Vodafone Idea said in an exchange filing.
Earlier in the day, the telecom company said Krishna Kishore Maheshwari had quit as a non-executive director, citing personal reasons.
Maheshwari came on the board of Vodafone Idea on March 3, 2022 as an additional director (non-executive and non-independent).
