Vistara, India’s premium full-service carrier and a joint venture of Tata Group and Singapore Airlines (SIA), will be ramping up its presence at Heathrow with direct, five-weekly flights between Mumbai and London starting June 1.

This will be in addition to Vistara’s existing daily flights between Delhi and Heathrow.

The new flights will complement Air India’s Mumbai-Heathrow service and compete against British Airways and Virgin Atlantic which also serve the route.

Vistara will operate its brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the Mumbai route, featuring a three-class configuration.

Bookings for the flights are being progressively opened on all channels, including Vistara’s website, mobile app, and through travel agents.

“We are delighted to announce Mumbai-London as our fourth route to Europe after connecting Frankfurt, Paris and London with Delhi. The launch of this new route is also a reflection of our customers’ growing preference for Vistara, for travel between India and the UK.

This additional gateway also offers our customers more options and flexibility with their travel itineraries while choosing to fly the country’s most loved airline. We look forward to further expanding our presence in Europe, especially with more wide-body aircraft joining our fleet in the coming months,” commented Vistara chief, Vinod Kannan.

Flights from Mumbai to Heathrow will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. They depart at around 1400 from the Indian commercial hub and arrive before 2000, same day, at Heathrow.

The returns operate same day, leaving Heathrow at 2055 on Mondays for a 1015 next day arrival into Mumbai.

On all other days they depart the English capital at 2155 and arrive in Mumbai at 1100 the following morning.

Vistara is a 51:49 joint venture between Indian conglomerate Tata Sons and SIA.

Vistara commenced commercial operations in January 2015.

The airline currently has a fleet of 59 aircraft, including 45 Airbus A320neos, eight Airbus A321neos, two remaining Boeing 737-800s and now four long-haul Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
