Virgin Hotels has opened its second European property with the unveiling of a new outpost in central Glasgow.
The brand, part of Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, already has a property in the Scottish capital Edinburgh in addition to its North American hotels.
Virgin Hotels Glasgow is located on the banks of the Clyde and features 240 rooms and suites, which are known as “chambers” by Virgin.
The hotel’s public areas have been designed around open floor plans and feature artworks from local Scottish illustrators, painters and photographers.
Other facilities include the Commons Club flagship restaurant and bar, which also incorporates the Highyard dining and entertainment venue on the mezzanine level with views of the river and a retractable roof.
More food and beverage outlets will be opened within the hotel in the coming months, while the property features meeting and events spaces, such as the Bonnie and Clyde meeting rooms and the “intimate” Shag Room, which is fitted with “luxurious fabrics”.
Virgin Hotels Collection CEO James Bermingham said: “We are driven by our passion for delivering innovative design and heartfelt service, and our latest opening is no exception. Every detail has been curated to reflect the dynamic and diverse essence of Glasgow.”
The hotel brand, which was set up 2010, has properties in the US cities of Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Nashville, New Orleans and New York. While further hotels in Miami and Denver are scheduled to open in 2025.
