An SUV crashed into a building on Alma Street, smashing through the glass window and door on Thursday morning, Aug. 3, according to Palo Alto police dispatchers.

The gray-green Lexus RX 450k slammed into All Day Kitchens, a takeout food distributor, at about 10:40 a.m. The vehicle went halfway into the building at 3411 Alma St., according to police communications.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle. There were no injuries.

One person in the building was in a workshop area at the time of the crash and was taken to safety to police. The building didn’t appear to have structural damage and gas lines weren’t affected, according to police communications.

No cause for the crash has yet been determined and officers remained on scene shortly before noon. Police requested a building inspector to come to the site.
