US Urges Justices to Skip Federal Worker Shutdown Pay Delay Case

Federal employees who work during a shutdown but don’t get paid until it ends shouldn’t get a new shot at their timely-pay allegations, the government told the US Supreme Court.

The workers asked the high court to weigh in on how Congressional appropriations lapses intersect with the federal government’s obligations under the Fair Labor Standards Act. But the federal wage law’s “implicit prompt-payment requirement has never been considered absolute,” the government told the Supreme Court.
