Universal Studios plans to build a new theme park in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to a report from the Dallas Morning News.
The company has made a deal to buy land in Frisco, which is about 30 miles north of Dallas, the report said.
It would be Universal’s third theme park in the U.S. It already operates parks in Orlando, Fla., and outside Los Angeles, Calif.
Universal Parks & Resorts bought a nearly 100-acre site on the Dallas North Tollway, the report said. It will include a themed hotel.
It will be smaller than the other parks in Florida and California, officials said Wednesday during the announcement. There was no immediate word when it would open or what attractions it would include.
Universal this year is gearing up to open Super Nintendo World at its California location. The original Super Nintendo World is at Universal’s park in Osaka Japan.
The company also has parks in Singapore, Beijing, China; and Barcelona, Spain.
