During the build-up to our game against table-topping Notts County it has been a pleasure to welcome UCFB International Business Student Aidan Richardson to the SO Legal Stadium

Aidan a second-year student at UCFB has been keen to learn more about how an EFL club operates behind the scenes and has been with us for the last couple of days working in various departments.

Speaking about his time with Barrow, he said: “Yesterday I spent the day with Dave and went through all of the ticketing routines and what he does on a day-to-day basis, whilst Alisha took me through how player contracts are sorted, how to register a player and make sure the squad has been put through for matchday.

“And today Kelly took me through the marketing and hospitality side of things, with Ethan also helping me learn about the social media side of things with him taking me along to a school visit the club had today which was great to see how the club operates within the community.”

Aidan added the reason he came to Barrow was because he was inspired by Alisha’s talk at the university’s welcome week at Old Trafford.

He continued: “Alisha came and did a talk at UCFB along with a few others and I found her talk really inspiring and I really enjoyed her talking about the line of work she does as well, so I reached out to her and asked if I was able to come in and shadow here and the rest of the team for a few days and she was more than happy to.”

Overall Aidan was really pleased to gain some invaluable insight into the football industry, adding: “It’s been great to be behind the scenes at an EFL side and see how they operate off the field because it’s one thing about reading about it in a textbook and it’s another thing coming into a club and seeing how it’s done. It’s been really good to come down to Barrow as they’re really good people here, it’s a really good club and a really great opportunity.”
