Isabella Casillas Guzman, administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration, visited Los Angeles on Aug. 4 to meet with local officials and business owners and to highlight how President Joe Biden’s economic policies are helping to improve the business community.

Guzman was joined by U.S. Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles) for a roundtable discussion, and also met with Sarah Friar, CEO of Nextdoor. Guzman and Gomez toured Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles and focused on support for Latino entrepreneurs, and later visited Parks BBQ in Koreatown.

Friar joined Guzman and Gomez for visits to three small businesses – Knowles Karate Academy, 4378 W. Third St.; Haley Solar clothing store, 3318 W. Sunset Blvd.; and Hoopty Bikes, 305 E. Ninth St. – and highlighted resources available to small business owners through the SBA’s Small Business Digital Alliance. Nextdoor is a member of the alliance, a joint public-private partnsership between the SBA and major companies to connect small businesses with tech resources to start and expand e-commerce.
