Turkish Airlines will introduce ‘free and limitless’ messaging services to passengers on international flights, the carrier announced this month.

The carrier plans to launch the unlimited messaging service on its aircraft with internet access by Turk Telekom, and then gradually on all aircraft with an internet connection.

The complimentary service, which allows passengers to use applications such as WhatsApp, Messenger or iMessage, will be offered to Miles&Smiles members. Non-members, meanwhile, will be able to access the service upon filling out a membership form either before or during the flight, according to the carrier.

Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi said the service is “another innovative development to the countless improvements we made for Türkiye’s aviation sector as the national flag carrier”.

He added: “By combining our innovative approach with customer satisfaction, we are ensuring our passengers will be able to freely message their loved ones above clouds, staying in contact with them without any limits.”
