Troop sees ‘surge’ in smaller internal meetings

Travel and event management platform Troop has seen a “surge” in smaller internal meetings due to the rise in hybrid and remote working.

The technology company said it had seen a “significant shift” in meeting trends over the past year with eight out of 10 meetings planned on the Troop being classed as internal meetings.

Troop added that the majority of these meetings were classified as being small, with 66 per cent being attended by less than 25 people and 80 per cent being below 50 attendees.

There has also been a “heightened focus” on carbon emissions as planners use Troop to evaluate the environmental impact of meeting destinations by considering the diverse starting locations of attendees.

Another trend identified by Troop is a post-Covid focus on a range of duty of care concerns, such as the safety of LGBTQ employees and the health impacts of travel time. 

Dennis Vilovic, the founder and co-CEO of Troop, added: “Businesses recognise the power of in-person meetings, as evidenced by the increased number of smaller, internal meetings this year. Bringing teams together face-to-face fosters stronger relationships and facilitates the sharing of knowledge among geographically dispersed employees. 

“The challenge for most companies is how to empower their employees to meet in a cost-effective manner while aligning with sustainability targets and maintaining visibility, safety and control.”
