TripStax adds emissions data with Thrust Carbon partnership

TMC technology provider TripStax is adding carbon emissions data to its portfolio of services through a new partnership with sustainability platform Thrust Carbon.

TripStax’s latest development will see emissions data from Thrust Carbon integrated into its Core platform. Data from each booking will be sent via API to Thrust Carbon to calculate the emissions from the trip and this information is then returned to the Core.

The emissions calculation can be applied across the TripStax applications being used by the TMC, such as Documents and Analytics. Any pre-travel amendments are also resent to Thrust Carbon so the emissions data from the trip can be updated.

Scott Wylie, TripStax’s chief technology officer, said it was a “priority” to give its TMC clients access to accurate carbon emissions data.

“We conducted an in-depth analysis of providers, challenging and checking their measurements by route, flight number, type of aircraft,” added Wylie.

“Thrust Carbon emerged as the clear leader in this process as their methodology is science-based and therefore far more meaningful.”

Mark Corbett, director of Thrust Carbon, said: “With granular and accurate insights plus recommendations, travel managers will be able to make informed choices that lead to game-changing reductions in emissions.”

TripStax was set up two years ago when it was spun off as a standalone company by travel management company ATPI. It offers a range of “modular” technology stacks to TMCs.

Last year, TripStax acquired booking platform TapTrip and hotel specialist Hotelzon. It also agreed a partnership with ground transport tech player Jyrney in February.
