Trinity Rodman is currently enjoying her first ever World Cup with the USWNT, at the age of 21.

The exciting talent has represented the United States at senior, U-20, and U-17 level. She featured for her country at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, playing a total of 165 minutes and providing one assist.

In 2020, Rodman (daughter of NBA champion Dennis) helped the US lift the 2020 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship, displaying her talent by scoring nine goals along the way.

In the same year, she was nominated for the US Soccer Young Female Player of the Year award the same year but didn’t win. She did, however, take the same award home in 2021.

The young forward made her USWNT debut on 17 February, 2022, in a goalless draw with Czech Republic at the 2022 SheBelieves Cup, a tournament she won with the US in 2022 and 2023.

The Washington Spirit player’s first senior goal came on April 12, 2022, in a friendly against Uzbekistan.

World Cup call-up

In June 2023, Rodman was deservedly called up to the USWNT squad for the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand

During the World Cup send-off friendly against Wales on 9 July, the 21-year-old netted a brace after replacing Alex Morgan and was named Woman of the Match. Head coach Vlatko Andonovski later described her second goal as “world class”.

“My expectations are that we’re the most ruthless team, we’re never going to give up and we’re going to get the title,” Rodman told ESPN.

Of the 23 players in the US squad, she is one of 14 players playing in their first World Cup.

Rodman made her World Cup debut in the USWNT’s group stage match against Vietnam, starting in the 3-0 Group E win. A Sophia Smith brace and one from Lindsey Horan saw the US get off to a winning start Down Under. With her side in the lead, Rodman was replaced in the 76th minute by Alyssa Thompson.

Known for her hard work off the ball, Rodman is a skilful player with an eye for goal and poses a threat going forward. A star in the making, she is a key part of a promising young wave of talent coming into the USWNT roster as they bid to win a third successive World Cup.
