Salary – £46,000 per annum with occasional paid overtime

East Cambs Street Scene Ltd. is looking for an experienced Transport Manager to act as key decision maker and be the responsible Operators Licence holder for managing a vehicle fleet ranging from 3.5t to 26t for the waste and street cleansing service.
This is an exciting new role and will require a real commitment to continuous improvement, compliance and bringing a team with you as we purchase a new fleet and introduce new ways of working for Crews.
You will be based at our operations depot in the district of East Cambridgeshire, and have responsibility for the management of the Operating Centre, ensuring the environment is safe, clean and well managed.
The Street Scene service is relatively small, but incredibly busy and you will play a pivotal role on our transformation programme Project Street Smart. You can read more about our Project Street Smart in our Business Plan here
Your Responsibilities
You will lead and direct a small team to ensure compliance with key legislation affecting the operation including health and safety, Operators Licence and environmental regulations.
Specifically you will be the responsible person for ensuring the in-house fleet remains fit for purpose, operationally safe, road worthy and legal, by monitoring and reviewing transport compliance on a day to day basis, address shortcomings and ensure standards adhere to changing legislation.
As well as managing the operational depot, ensuring a transport management plan and safe systems of work are in place and adhered too and that the busy depot remains a safe and clean environment for pedestrians and vehicles.
Essential Skills and Experience
To be successful within this role you will need to have a real passion for fleet management and driver compliance. With an eye for detail and finding those opportunities to drive efficiencies through the business. You will be an experienced manager that is comfortable taking a hands on coaching approach with the Teams. Additionally you will have:
- Experience as a Transport Manager with budget management and procurement responsibilities
- Holder of the national Driver’s Certificate of Professional competence (CPC Licence) and category C driving licence
- Ideally with an IOSH or WAMITAB qualification
- Ability to work flexible hours and occasional weekends
- Desire to develop continuously and maintain best practice knowledge and professional qualifications within your field.
