Ten Hag says Maguire still in squad vs Wolves… for now
Harry Maguire is currently in Manchester United’s squad for Monday’s Prem opener against Wolves – despite West Ham closing on a £30million deal.
The England centre-back is one of around four senior players who could depart Old Trafford in the next fortnight.
But for now the 30-year-old is a contender to make at least the bench for the Red Devils in three days’ time.
Asked if Maguire was available, Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag said: “Of course.”
Fred exit sets United up for Sofyan arrival
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sell Fred to Fenerbahce – paving the way for Sofyan Amrabat to replace him.
Fred should complete a £13million move to Turkey this weekend, with Fiorentina midfielder Amrabat eyeing an imminent arrival at old Trafford
The Red Devils confirmed an agreement has been reached in principal for Fred to move to Fenerbahce.
However, the transfer remains subject to a medical and an agreement on personal terms.
Fred is set to fly to Istanbul on Saturday in order to start his medical, the statement adds.
The 30-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2018.
Fred’s departure is set to make way for Erik ten Hag to sign Moroccan international Amrabat.
United have been in talks with Fiorentina over a potential deal throughout the window.
Inter tipped to pull out of Balogun hunt
Folarin Balogun’s immediate future remains intriguing – after two more transfer twists.
Claims Tottenham could be interested in the Arsenal striker coincide with reports that Inter Milan are dropping out of the hunt.
Monaco remain favourites ahead of Atletico Madrid to sign the 22-year-old.
The French giants have reportedly agreed personal terms with the former Reims sensation.
And it’s also been suggested he’d prefer to depart the Prem in his search for a permanent move.
Kane sale ‘imminent’
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Harry Kane completing his move to Bayern Munich is “imminent”.
The England skipper, 30, had a medical in Munich tonight after jetting out from London.
Spurs agreed a deal, potentially worth £104million, and then allowed Kane to make the final decision.
Now Bayern are rushing to sign him in time for tomorrow’s German Supercup clash with RB Leipzig.
Don’t look back in Elanga
Anthony Elanga was 11 when he thought he had sealed his dream move from IF Elfsborg to Swedish giants FF Malmo.
But the transfer ended in tears a couple of months later, when the winger’s short-lived stint at Sweden’s biggest club abruptly ended, leaving the youngster broken-hearted.
Incredibly, one of Scandinavia’s most gifted football talents was suddenly playing on pock-marked council pitches in Greater Manchester – for Hyde Sunday League grassroots team Hattersley!
Now, a decade later, Elanga admits he is much happier with his latest transfer – for £15million from Manchester United to Nottingham Forest.
He said: “I’ve never actually told anyone how I became the Swede with the English accent! I’d just been signed by Malmo and was looking forward to being developed within their Academy.
“But after six weeks, mum told us we were moving to England because she felt there were better opportunities for us there.
“It certainly wasn’t a football-related decision, mum just felt it was a better move for me and my two sisters. But having just joined Malmo, it was difficult to come to terms with at first.”
Ange did NOT try to persuade Kane to stay
Ange Postecoglou knew Harry Kane was leaving the moment he took over as Spurs boss.
But he reckons the England captain will be back at Tottenham one day.
Kane, 30, arrived in Germany tonight by private jet for a medical ahead of his £104million switch to Bayern Munich.
If the striker signs the five-year, £415,000-a-week deal and is registered before 3pm, he could win his first ever trophy TODAY if he makes the bench for Bayern’s German Supercup clash with RB Leipzig.
When Postecoglou was asked if he knew the striker would leave when he took the job on June 6, the Aussie chief replied: “Yeah, pretty much.
“It wasn’t part of the contract negotiations that I needed certain players to stay.
“You do due diligence when you take a job and hopefully I was well- researched enough to know what was going on in the background.
“When a player of Harry’s stature is going into the last year of his contract, you don’t need too much investigative research to know what’s going on. I knew going into it that this was the most likely outcome.”
