(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 30 – An eight-hour train strike called
after Tuesday’s fatal level-crossing crash between a train and a
truck in Calabria hit Italy on Thursday.
Unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ferrovieri, Orsa
trasporti and Fast Confsal called the strike lasting until 17:00
after the train’s conductor and the truck’s driver were killed
in the head-on collision at Thurio di Corigliano Rossano.
Rail sources said the stoppage had affected above all regional
trains.
At around lunch time regional trains out of Roma Termini were
loggin delays of up to 60 minutes while two high-speed
Frecciarossas and seven regional trains had been cancelled.
There was disruption to regional train services across Italy,
the sources said.
