Top court upholds MPS acquittals – English

(ANSA) – ROME, OCT 11 – Italy’s supreme Cassation Court on
Wednesday upheld the acquittals of all 15 defendants in a case
involving struggling Tuscan lender Monte dei Paschi di Siena
(MPS), the world’s oldest continually active bank.

   
They were definitively cleared of irregularities in the
structured finance transactions Alexandria and Santorini,
Chianti Classico and Fresh, carried out by MPS between 2008 and
2012.

   
The defendants included former MPS chairman Giuseppe Mussari and
former managing director Antonio Vigni.

   
They were earlier acquitted on appeal on 6 May 2022. (ANSA).
