Deputy PM met with Chinese Foreign Minister to discuss enhancing relations, visa exemptions, and collaborative efforts.
Meeting between Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara and Mr. Wang Yi
Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, recently held discussions with Mr. Wang Yi, Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the 8th Mekong – Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Beijing.
Their talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations and progressing negotiations on a mutual visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders.
Focus on Thailand-China High-speed Railway Project
The two ministers emphasized the importance of advancing the Thailand-China high-speed railway project, with the aim of connecting it with the China-Lao PDR high-speed railway. They also discussed collaborative efforts in addressing transnational crimes and exchanged perspectives on mutual regional issues.
Strengthening Diplomatic Ties
During the meeting, Mr. Parnpree expressed gratitude to the Chinese Government for its assistance in repatriating Thai nationals from Laukkaing, Myanmar, and proposed the reinvigoration of a Consultation Mechanism between the Foreign Ministers of the two nations. Deputy Prime Minister Parnpree also extended an invitation to China’s Foreign Minister to visit Thailand at the earliest opportunity to participate in proposed talks, aimed at further solidifying collaborative efforts in various areas of mutual interest.
