Burna Boy Has Started Again!
AFRO pop singer, Burna Boy has taken that “thing” that makes him run into public space and talk anyhow again. Sometime last year, he was reported in the media to have said that “everybody in Nigeria smokes Indian hemp (marijuana). Weeks after, he claimed that he was offered millions of dollars by African leaders to make him stop singing about bad leadership in the continent. And T4T was wondering when some African leaders met at an AU kind of meeting, called Burna Boy and offered him the millions in dollars to stop singing about them. Even with all Fela sang (which Burna Boy has not sung one per cent of), he did not one day claim he was offered bribe money of two naira to make him stop. By the way, wetin Burna Boy dey even sing in the first place?
The latest “carry talk” from the stable of Burna Boy was that his colleagues in the Afro-pop genre’s songs lack “substance.” Well, he did not lie, but then how deep are the songs of one who is dissing his fellow artistes? Maybe, I need ‘igbo and shayo song by him has a lot of substance or is it that igbo and shayo now have a different meaning than the one we all know? And that was his supposed hit song that he sang at the NBA finals in America early in the year, or so which the Oyinbos and blacks were dancing to.
Governor Or Emperor?
ON Wednesday night, T4T saw a video online where a South West governor (names withheld) was recorded sitting down on a high chair in where was supposedly his government house office and someone with a microphone was chanting some words that sounded like praise songs and then over 10 people (someone said they were local government chairmen in the state) sitting on lower chairs all bowing in unison to the governor, who proudly sat stiff like the biblical King Herod.
T4T was like, what is happening here? The expression on the face of the Governor was that of pride of a royal majesty over his subjects! Wait a minute, a governor is supposed to be a servant of the people who voted him into power to serve them not the other way round, so how did this particular governor and many other governors in Nigeria become overlords over the people as seen in that rather nauseating video?
Well, if you want to guess who this Emperor-Governor is, that is your business. But all T4T knows is that he is grey-bearded and wears a signature cap (they all do anyway) and he is neighbour of Lagos (other South West states are also neighbours of Lagos too).
By the way, what does ‘eleyi’ mean in Yoruba language again, abeg?
When Movie Is ‘Flashback’
IN all T4T’s over two decades of following Nollywood, he has not seen any movie with the longest Flashback scenes like the one he saw on Wednesday night on Pay TV.
Titled Who Killed The Prince, the 2022 movie directed by Goodnews Erico, which starred TT Temple, Ola Daniel among others deployed the flashback technique to a ridiculous level that T4T at a point became confused and wondered why the movie was not titled ‘Flashback’ instead of Who Killed The Prince?
From the beginning, middle and end of the movie, all that viewers see are flashback scenes that get one confused. Guess it is time for all movie awards organisers to introduce the ‘Movie With Most Flashbacks’ category in their awards. Who Killed The Prince would win the award without any contest.
