Owing to ongoing schedule maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), some Ogun state residents are in a power outage that may last for about eight days.
According to TCN General Manager (GM), Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, areas to be affected are Ayede, McPherson and Sagamu.
The maintenance work, which has commenced, will be carried out on its Ayede, McPherson and Sagamu 132kV transmission line for eight days – from Wednesday, April 12 to next Wednesday.
The shutdown is to enable TCN to replace the existing tubular poles to increase clearance from the ground on the Ayede, Mcpherson and Sagamu 132kV transmission lines.
To ensure safe access to undertake the maintenance, the company said, there would be load diversion from Ikorodu transmission substation to Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode and McPherson transmission substations.
Also, the transmission company said there would be load shedding for the duration of the repair.
Speaking with The Guardian, Lead Media Relations, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Busolami Tunwase, said the maintenance is aimed at increasing the capacity of the transmission lines to increase efficiency.
“The maintenance is routine. Though it is a TCN project, we have to inform our customers of the situation because we interact with them daily” she noted.
