Tarver announces 13-member men’s soccer signing class – University of Evansville Athletics

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville head men’s soccer coach Robbe Tarver has announced his first class of 13 student-athletes for the upcoming 2023 campaign. The class hails from 6 countries and 6 states
 
“We are excited about the group coming in. They fill the holes that we had after last season and expect them to increase our depth at each position,” said Tarver on the class. “These guys fit what we are looking for on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Our hope is that this group continues to elevate the program to the next level. Toney and Matt did a great job hitting the ground running on the recruiting trail.”

Aron Böcking Gerken 
· Defender · Düsseldorf, Germany · Valencia American School

 

Aron joins UE after a youth career with Valencia CF and Alboraya UD. From u11 to u19, Aron has played in the top youth division, Division de Honor, in Spain. Originally, from Germany, Aron grew up in Valencia. 

 

Son of Anja Gerken & Lars Böcking … Chose UE because of the combination of soccer and academics … Majoring in Business Administration/Finance

 Behem

Kylian Behem · Defender · Cannes, France · College Arc de Meyran

 

Kylian comes to the River City from Cannes, France, and a youth career with OGC Nice. He competed in the u17 and u19 National, the highest youth division in France. He was also named to the Pôle Espoir regional team as 1 of the best 18 players in the region. 

 

Son of Gilles Behem & Sandrine Pujalte … chose UE because of the relationship with the staff and diversity of the program … Majoring in Business

 

Nacho-Signed

Nacho Diaz-Caneja 
· Defender · Coruña, Spain · Oregon State University

 

Nacho comes to Evansville after a youth career with Deportivo de la Coruña and 1 season at Oregon State. With Deportivo de la Coruña, Nacho won the highest youth league in Spain, Division de Honor, qualifying Deportivo for the UEFA Youth League – the best youth competition in Europe. With Oregon State, he appeared in 8 matches including the NCAA tournament game vs. Portland. 

 

Son of David & Paloma … Chose UE because of the opportunity to develop and challenge for a championship … Majoring in Business Administration

 

Edwards

Cade Edwards 
· Defender · Auburn, AL · Auburn HS

 

Cade comes to UE from Auburn, Alabama where he competed for Hoover Vestavia in MLS Next as well as Auburn HS. Cade captained HVS and was selected to the ODP South Region team. He also led Auburn HS to the playoffs and was selected to varsity as an 8th grader. 

 

Son of Matt & Catherine … Chose UE because of competitive soccer, quality education, and the smaller campus … Major in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

 

Fedrizzi

Jacopo Fedrizzi 
· Attacker · Giulia, Italy · Liceo Scientifico Giovanni Marinelli

 

Jacopo joins the Purple Aces from Italy after a storied youth career with Udinese Calcio. He helped Udinese win the u19 Serie A-B tournament and appeared on the bench twice for the first team. Jacopo was also called up for the u16 & u17 Italian youth national team training camp. Last year, he appeared 26 times for Cjarlins Muzane in Serie D, the same club former Purple Ace, Alex Vidizzoni played for.

Grant

Kobe Grant 
· Defender · Brampton, Ontario · Winthrop University

 

Kobe becomes a Purple Ace after spending his freshman season at Winthrop University in the Big South. Kobe appeared and started in 10 matches, playing 852 minutes, contributing to 3 shutouts, and the Dean’s List. He grew up playing for Woodbridge SC playing in Ligue 1 Ontario and the Ontario Provincial Screening. 

 

Son of Yolande & Mark … Chose UE because of the excellent business program, style fit, and the history of the program … Majoring in Business Administration

 

Hernandez

David Hernandez 
· Midfielder · Valencia, Spain · Luis Amigo HS

 

David comes to Evansville from Valencia, Spain where he spent 11 years in Levante UD’s (La Liga) academy as a midfielder and captain. The past two seasons he has spent time at Patacona and San Jose in the Division de Honor. 

 

Son of Vicente Hernandez & Sonia Ruiz … chose Evansville because of the relationships with the team, the ambition of the program and style of play, as well as the academics … major in Business

 

Iglesias

Carlos Iglesias 
· Winger · Coruña, Spain · Hoosac School

 

Carlos comes to the River City from Coruña, Spain. He grew up playing for Deportivo de la Coruña and Victoria C.F. in Division de Honor. He appeared in the Teresa Herrera Final and the Ribadeo Cup against teams like Benfica. Carlos did his final year of high school at the Hoosac School in New York helping the team to win the GESP League. 

 

Son of Carlos & Cristina … Chose UE because he can succeed academically and athletically, as well as his relationship with the staff … Majoring in Business

 

Joseph

Tolu Joseph 
· Midfielder/Defender · Gaithersburg, MD · Northwest HS

 

Tolu grew up playing for Bethesda and Northwest HS. In 2019, Tolu led Bethesda to a Region 1 title and state final appearance, as well as a National Group top of the table finish. With Northwest HS, he helped the program to a 2021 state final appearance. 

 

Son of Toks & Yetunde … Chose UE because of great academics and great athletics … Major in Biology.

 

Lazarski

Nick Lazarski 
· Attacker · Las Vegas, NV · Bishop Gorman HS

 

Nick comes to UE after a youth career with Bishop Gorman and Heat FC ECNL. With Bishop Gorman, Nick led the program to a 5A Nevada State Championship while being named First Team All-Conference twice. With Heat FC, he helped them to a Southwest ECNL title. 

 

Son of Jason & Elaina … chose UE to continue both soccer and academics while helping the program to a championship … Major in Accounting/Sports Management

 

Mitchell

DeShaun Mitchell 
· Defender · Goose Creek, SC · Pinewood Prep

 

DeShaun joins Evansville after a successful youth career with South Carolina United and Pinewood Preparatory. With SCUFC, he made back-to-back Elite 8 ECNL appearances in 2021 and 2022. With Pinewood Prep, he led the team to the 2023 State Championship, being named the SCISA 3A Player of the Year and Pinewood’s Player of the Year. 

 

Son of Parker & Ashley … Chose UE because of the close-knit environment and historically successful program … Majoring in Finance

Kyle Penders 
· Defender · St. Paul, MN · Nova Classical Academy

 

Kyle comes to Evansville after time with Eture in Valencia, Spain. For Nova Classical, he was a captain his junior and senior seasons. The versatile defender joins as a sophomore after starting his studies at Georgia Military School. 

 

Son of Sally Penders & Michael Morin … Chose UE to compete on a high level on and off the field, and it’s a place to thrive … Majoring in Physical Therapy / Exercise Science

 

Tarleton

Baraka Tarleton 
· Midfielder · Andover, MN · Andover HS

 

Baraka becomes a Purple Ace after time at Andover HS and Minnesota Thunder. For Minnesota Thunder he was First Team All-Conference, helping lead his team to the ECNL playoffs. For high school, he was named 1stTeam All-State, named the MN All-Star game MVP and appeared twice for the Midwest ODP Squad. Baraka also played basketball for Andover HS.

Vik

Audun Engen Vik 
· Attacker · Trondheim, Norway · Strinda Videregående Skole

Audun joins UE after a youth career with Rosenborg. With Rosenborg, Audun helped win the top u18 division, appeared in the Norway Cup final, and qualified Rosenborg for the UEFA Youth League along with current Ace, Ola Arntsen. He appeared 19 times with Norway’s u15-u17 in friendlies and Euro-U17 qualifiers, scoring 2 goals. Most recently, Audun appeared in the 2.Division and 3.Division with Levanger and Nardo FK.

Williams IV

Lionel Williams IV · Defender · Chandler, AZ · Desert Vista HS

Lionel comes to Evansville from Chandler, Arizona. He won the 2022 6A State Championship with Desert Vista, being named First Team All-Region and All-City this past season. He competed for RSL-Arizona in the USYS E64 competition.

 

Son of Felicia & Lionel (III) … chose UE after prospects camp because of the quality and professionalism of the program, as well as the connection to the people … Majoring in Biology to pursue Radiology
