TAMIU offering free online webinars for small business success

Texas A&M International University’s Small Business Development Center is offering five online workshops Nov. 13-29.

The first offering on Monday, Nov. 13, from 1-3 p.m. titled “WEW 2023-She Means Business: Mastering the Art of Networking,” will be in celebration of Women Entrepreneur Week. The workshop will explore the basic understandings of networking, effective communication, digital communication, elevator pitches, and how to build one’s brand.

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 10-11 a.m., another workshop will be offered, “Energize Yourself Financially.” Its goal is for participants to be confident in their abilities to manage finances on their own and to learn about the tools and resources available to assist them.

Also on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 2-3 p.m., another workshop titled “Texas State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) Guide to Your Grant,” will be presented. Its purpose is to help small businesses grow and succeed.

On Friday, Nov. 17, from 10-11 a.m., another workshop titled, “WEW 2023- Relationship Building for She-E-Os,” will be offered. Participants will learn about the power of strategic leadership, how to expand their network and learn ways to leverage relationships that support their business goals.

The final online workshop offered will be on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., and is titled “Cyber security and Your Small Business.” Participants will learn the basics of online security, ways to identify common digital threats, and steps to protect their business online.

“TAMIU SBDC’s mission is to help small businesses start and grow,” said Norma Rodriguez, TAMIU SBDC director.

The free, online workshops are designed to serve as steppingstones for entrepreneurs to start and grow their small businesses. By attending the workshops participants can acquire the knowledge and the tools necessary to succeed in business, Rodriguez said.

“Professional development is very important for small business owners and continuing to enhance their skills is beneficial to the continued growth of their businesses,” she said.
