Coimbatore: Switzerland-based Leister Groups inaugurated a unit of its Weldy Technologies India at Chinnavedampatti here on Thursday.This is the first assembling unit of Weldy products in India. Spread across 7,000sqft, the unit would make five tools to start with for industrial applications. The company, which is into manufacturing welding equipment among other industrial tools, is importing components from Switzerland.“The decision to establish our plant in Coimbatore is based on the district’s outstanding standards in engineering – both in industry and academics. We are open to a wide range of engineering students for more innovation and employment opportunities in both direct and indirect chain of services,” said Christiane Leister, president of the board of directors of the firm.Weldy Technologies is a leading manufacturer of both hot air hand tools and automatic plastic welding machines, which are used to manufacture tents, tarpaulins, and container and boat construction, tunnel construction, and cable confection .Lauding India for its accomplishment of chandrayaan-3, Christiane said India was exhibiting rapid growth in technological advancement in space research and digital transformation.Martin Zingg, CEO, Leister Group, underlined the significance of the bilateral relationship between India and Switzerland that would nurture more investments.

Four injured as gas pipe bursts at manufacturing unit in Saharanpur

The workers were busy in operations when a gas pipeline burst, causing the fire. They were taken to the district hospital for treatment and their condition is stable. Around 30 workers were present at the unit during the accident, and the fire was controlled within an hour. The fire office is conducting an inquiry into the cause of the fire.
