Stockholm-based coffee chain Waynes has appointed Alistair Burrows as its new CEO.

Burrows joined Waynes in September 2022 as Head of Franchise before becoming Chief Operating Officer in October 2023.

He succeeds Fredrik Holmstedt who has served as Interim CEO since Joakim Carlsson stepped down from the role in June 2022. Burrows is Waynes’ third CEO in less than three years following the resignation of long-serving Mats Hörnell in March 2021.

“My focus as newly appointed CEO will be on sales issues, on further sharpening Waynes’ offering and building an even stronger franchise system to support the business that is run locally in each café,” Burrows said.

Founded in 1994, Waynes is the second largest branded coffee chain in Sweden with 73 stores, behind Lund-based Espresso House which operates 259 outlets.

Waynes also operates stores in Germany, Norway, Denmark, Cyprus, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam.
