KUALA LUMPUR: Supermax Corporation Bhd, which aims to have manufacturing operations in the United States soon, will review and reshuffle its boardroom to align with its global strategy and forward direction.

The glove maker also announced that its board of directors had received an advanced notice of resignation from independent non-executive director Sharon Sung.

“Sung will continue to serve on the Supermax board until June 30, 2023, and her resignation is purely due to her personal commitments and increased workload in another public listed company, and that she will no longer be able to serve on the board of Supermax after June 30,” the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Supermax said the board would initiate a search for a replacement candidate and further announcements would be made once a new member had been appointed.

“The board would like to take this opportunity to reassure its stakeholders that Sung’s resignation will not have any adverse impact on the company’s operations. The company remains committed to its mission and will continue to work tirelessly towards achieving its objectives,” it said.

According to Supermax, Sung has been an invaluable board member, providing extensive knowledge and experience to help guide the company during her two years on the board.

The board expressed its gratitude to Sung for her dedication and commitment to the company, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic period when she joined.

Earlier this month, non-independent and non-executive director Cecile Jaclyn Thai resigned following “disagreement with the board on several matters.” – Bernama
