An application has been submitted to convert a summerhouse into a dog grooming salon to fill a gap in the village for ‘plenty of dog owners and walkers.’

The application, submitted to Babergh District Council, will mean that Leavenheath, near Sudbury and Colchester, would have its first dog grooming salon if approved.

The site will be located on Stoke Road, just two doors down from an animal rescue charity.

The property will have space for four cars, with turning space and would operate Monday to Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday from 9am-2pm.

There will be one professional dog groomer operating in the salon at any one time, as that is all the space it can accommodate, meaning there will also be only one dog being groomed at a time, with a maximum of four per day.

The statement says that the ‘design has been carefully considered to minimise noise disturbance and maintain a professional and friendly appearance’.

It also reads that it would bring a ‘new and sought after business type to the village’.
