Budding student entrepreneurs in Brampton can get a leg up on starting their own businesses with mentorship, training and up to $3,000 in grants.
The City of Brampton has partnered with the province for the Summer Company Program, which gives students the tools, skills and funding to start a business.
Applications for the annual program are open now, which will see the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre provide training in areas like sales, marketing, and customer relationship management as they tackle running their own startup business with training, mentorship, and funding of up to $3,000.
Last year had 12 student businesses covering a wide range of industries, like a party planning company, an aerial photography business, and even industrial machine and tool repair services.
“These students represent the promising next generation that holds the power to shape a successful, sustainable future for our local community and economy,” Brampton City Coun. Gurpartap Singh Toor said in a release.
The program is open to Ontario youth between the ages of 15 and 29 years old who are enrolled in high school, college or university. Anyone who is already running a business or working a job or going to school for more than 12 hours a week during the program cannot apply, and you must be returning to school after the program ends.
