Stena Line has expanded its service from Rosslare to Cherbourg in France, with the addition of the Stena Vision, which is due to take its inaugural voyage on the route this evening.
The ship will operate the route alongside the Stena Horizon.
This will make the Swedish-owned ferry company the operator with the most frequent Irish crossings to continental Europe.
The refurbished vessel can accommodate up to 1,300 passengers and has 485 cabins, more than any other ferry currently sailing from Ireland to the continent.
The company said the inaugural journey is fully sold out, along with all of its 42 pet cabins.
“Travel bookings are strong for the summer period and our pet-cabins have also been incredibly popular with almost 60% of them booked for summer, but there is still some availability for the peak months and beyond,” the company said.
