The Ministry of Education’s pledged ambition to digitally equip all schools in Cyprus is becoming a reality, Philenews reports.
On Monday, a €9,000,000 plus VAT agreement between the Ministry and NewcyTech Business Solutions Ltd was signed providing just that.
It is titled: “Purchase of services for the establishment and operation of a Technical Support Centre and the supply of various equipment on a hire purchase basis to meet the needs of public primary and secondary education.”
This is basically the biggest technological upgrade and one of the biggest reforms in education that will radically improve everyday school life.
Specifically, the contract provides for the delivery of equipment to pre-primary and primary schools, secondary schools, high schools and technical schools.
Amongst other, the deal includes laptop computers, special digital desks, projectors, televisions, microphones and loudspeakers.
At the same time, it provides for the creation of a Technical Support Centre to which teachers will have recourse in the event of technical problems relating to the provided equipment.
Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, has noted that this contract is the first of four related ones which are expected to have a decisive impact on the effectiveness of the learning process.
