For showbiz impresario, Samuel Peterson, the Stars and Legends reality TV show, which was heralded by a concert and entertainment conference on Saturday, April 25 at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, has finally come to stay.
An initiative of Peterson’s Lukrush Records, Stars and Legends, which begins pre-production this month, is aimed at empowering a new breed of raw talents in music, dance, comedy and modeling from across the African continent.
“The annual show is about empowering the youth. As a musician, you can’t just look at music without understanding the business aspect of it. So, Stars and Legends is kind of empowering the youths in the business of music,” he disclosed.
Peterson stated further that the show, which is based on a three-point agenda of talent development, showbiz and entrepreneurship, promises to expose the young talents to international entertainment experts that will guide them to becoming world famous stars.
At the event attended largely by students of University of Lagos, led by the officials of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the youths were tutored on the business of music and entrepreneurship.
The industry stakeholders and scholars that mentored the youths included Silverbird president, Guy Murray-Bruce, Sarah Boulos, Dr Sheyi Kehnny, Zaaki Azzay, Asha Gangali, and Dolajumoke Kayejo.
The concert and entertainment conference event also witnessed performances from the likes of Ceemax, Piper, Stephanie Weaver, and Mej-Dei Khae among others.
A major highlight of the event, however, was the discovery of Gabriel Afolabi a 23-year-old student of University of Lagos, who has been looking for an opportunity to actualise his dream of becoming a voice-over artist.
The Ogun State-born English Language student of UNILAG had inquired from the organisers about how he could realise his ambition of becoming a voice-over artist.
In response to his enquiries, Afolabi was given a simple assignment, which he delivered creditably, thus making the organisers to instantly engage him in the production of the theme song for the reality show.
Speaking, a vividly excited Afolabi said: “I can’t wait to start. I feel so happy. It’s a privilege. Look, my voice is natural. My friends can take nice photos, but I can talk nicely.”
