The Saint Lucia-Taiwan Tradeshow is currently underway, and it has provided a platform for local businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services. Hosted under the theme “Sustaining Trade in the Digital Age,” the event aims to highlight the importance of embracing technology and digital advancements in today’s business world.
Minister for Commerce, Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives, and Consumer Affairs Emma Hippolyte has emphasized the significance of this tradeshow as an opportunity for local businesses to demonstrate their expertise and the quality of their products.
“It’s a lesson for business people to use technology to improve and expand their businesses. In the digital world we live in, the market is not your island. The market is the entire world,” Hippolyte stated.
Prime Minister Philip J Pierre, elated with the over 60 participants in the trade show, says the use of technology for business enhancement falls in line with the government’s policy.
Pierre also highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting technology adoption for business development, mentioning various initiatives like providing one computer per child, ensuring higher education opportunities, and supporting the youth economy through entrepreneurship.
The government is also helping small and medium-sized businesses by giving them grants and letting them use movable assets as collateral for loans. The St. Lucia Development Bank is also getting bigger, and a Credit Bureau is being set up to make sure that lenders are being responsible.
The Prime Minister extended his gratitude to the Taiwanese Government for partnering with Saint Lucia to provide this opportunity for local entrepreneurs. He hopes that the participants will benefit from the experience and make meaningful connections.
In a significant milestone, the acclaimed Saint Lucia 360, a company specializing in virtual tours of Saint Lucia using technology to showcase various places of interest across the island, including historic sites and resorts, made its debut at the 16th annual Taiwan Saint Lucia Trade Show.
Ronald Raoul, the proprietor of Saint Lucia 360, spoke positively about the tradeshow, welcoming the opportunity to participate in this year’s event.
“I think it is a tremendous opportunity, tremendous exposure; it affords business owners an opportunity to network. I must say I have met some key people who can assist me in going forward with this venture. I would recommend this forum to any young entrepreneur who really wants to expose themselves.”
With a journey that began as a cake-baking business, ‘Make My Day’ embarked on a remarkable transformation, growing into a full-fledged wedding and event planning enterprise.
Jacqueline Scott, the visionary behind the company, expressed her surreal excitement about the new chapter.
“I wanted to do this for a while, so it’s surreal to me to be here just to showcase my work. We started off as a cake-baking business, but then we grew and expanded, gaining more skills to offer a wider range of services. The Partnership Tradeshow began on Friday, November 3, to Sunday, November 5, from 10 am to 7 pm daily at the Pavilion on the Ramp in Rodney Bay, Gros Islet.
