What is the Squid Game: The Challenge lawsuit?

At the time of writing, an official lawsuit has not been filed against Netflix for Squid Game: The Challenge.

A spokesperson representing Squid Game: The Challenge confirmed that there is no lawsuit and purported that the show takes the welfare of its participants seriously.

Despite no official lawsuit being reportedly filed, Express Solicitors, a law firm that specializes in no-win no-fee claims has reportedly sent in letters of claim. Daniel Slade, the CEO of Express Solicitors was instructed by two anonymous participants of the show to help them seek compensation for the injuries suffered. Slade said:

“We have sent letters of claim on behalf of contestants injured in this show… From what we’ve been told they pushed the boundaries of safety in the name of entertainment… Production companies need to ensure that health and safety standards on their shows don’t leave people at risk of harm.”

Express Solicitors claimed that their clients risked their health by staying motionless for long shooting periods for Squid Game: The Challenge.

Moreover, in an interview with The Sun, David Slade revealed that his clients expected not to receive any injuries while participating in something they found to be fun. Slade also revealed that his clients were stuck in painful stress positions in extremely cold temperatures and that they both witnessed one fellow contestant fainting while playing the game, which necessitated the need for medics.
