BOWLING GREEN, KY.- The holiday weekend is still upon us. One way you can get out and support the little guys this weekend is by shopping small this Saturday. When you shop small you’d be making a big impact not just for the businesses but also for the whole community.
The owner of Sarah’s Stiches Sarah Edmunson, shares the value of having a small business and supporting a small business.
She says, “It’s really special for people to be able to have a one of a kind creation. It’s just a way to connect for people to preserve their memories and to have something handmade, which I think is special for people. Especially when it’s really unique things when it’s something that, you know they couldn’t get anywhere else. ”
Jewelry wall art and memories aren’t the only thing that you’ll be getting a taste of this Saturday. There will also be tons of food and unique snacks and foods to choose from. Ashley Yawn the owner of Pippin Pop Popcorn will be a part of small business Saturday and will be using corn grown right here in Kentucky to make her ver own popcorn.
She says, “The difference is when you go to a large box store, you’re not meeting the people who have actually made the product, and every single one of us that are going to be there on Saturday has hand-created these items. Take that time. Don’t just walk by. Just take that time to actually acknowledge the people that I’ve made these items because we have a story.”
There will be craftsmen bakers and many other entrepreneurs will be at Small Business Saturday Holiday Market.
Edmundson also tells us what this means for her small business. She says, “Bowling Green has a wonderful community of makers and of artisans and yeah, people who make original things. And it’s great to get to know them and to build that community. We really feel a sense of pride, but to get something really made of quality and to be able to get to know the people who make it is it just builds community. It makes us feel connected to Bowling Green. ”
