BENNINGTON — In the heart of Bennington, anticipation is building as local business owners gear up for the much anticipated Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25, 2023. This nationwide initiative, pioneered by American Express in 2010, encourages patrons to embrace the charm of local businesses and foster community support.

“The Better Bennington Corporation (BBC) extends a warm invitation to everyone to join in this celebration of small businesses that form the backbone of our community. The event promises an unforgettable day of shopping, dining, and entertainment,” a release from the BBC said.

Visit the Better Bennington Corporation table, strategically placed in front of the Bennington Banner office, where the first 25 visitors will receive complimentary “Shop Small” tote bags; there will also be exclusive “It’s not just downtown, it’s OUR town!” bags. Two recipients will discover $25 Downtown Dollars concealed within, ready to be spent on the spot, the release said.

Reflecting on a vibrant year in Downtown Bennington, with events like Hemmings Cruise-ins, Thursday Night Live, First Friday – Street Banner Unveiling, Mayfest, and Harvest Fest, the BBC invites the town to kick off the holiday season with Small Business Saturday.

“The festivities include a hot cocoa bar along with sweets where you can warm up from the chills of a winter day, ornament, and Dreidel painting tables so you may unleash your creativity in festive crafts.; wear your ugly sweater for a fun photo opportunity,” the release says. “It will be a perfect day to embrace the holiday spirit and capture special moments. The Ukulele String Ensemble will be playing so that you may enjoy the melodious tunes from two stages. Rumor has it that Santa will also be making a special appearance.”

“This is a unique opportunity to support your local entrepreneurs who are not just business owners but your neighbors and friends. Come prepared for a day of enjoyment, shopping, and dining at our fantastic local eateries,” encouraged Jeanne Mintrone, executive director at the BBC.
