The City of Cabot has announced a new Small Business Boot Camp, set to kick off Sept. 12. The highly interactive event will cover a range of business topics designed to help new entrepreneurs and existing small business owners alike achieve greater success.

The city is partnering with Arkansas Money & Politics magazine, the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) and Pinnacle Advisors to provide the six-week event free of charge. Dates for the sessions are Sept. 12, 19 and 26 and Oct. 3 and 10, held at the Veterans Park Community Center, 508 N. Lincoln St. in Cabot. Each session runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Capping the Boot Camp series will be a Shark Tank-style pitch event on Tuesday, Oct. 24. That event, which will be held at a location to be determined, will award a cash prize and a CEO Services package to the winner.

“This event is a great opportunity for small businesspeople and those who aspire to be,” said Heather Baker, president and publisher of AY Media Group, parent company of AMP magazine. “At AMP, we are all about promoting Arkansas’s Main Street companies and we could think of no better way to put that mission into action than by supporting this wonderful event. Anyone who wants to learn more about starting a new business or improving an existing one will find something valuable in these sessions.”

Topics covered during the in-depth six-week series include topics on how to start, grow and scale a business. Industry professionals will assist entrepreneurs by providing step-by-step guidance, resources and tools for success. The lineup of participating speakers and session leaders will lend a wealth of experience to a range of subject matter including strategic planning and research; funding and finance; organization and creation; laws, license and legal pitfalls; and management and marketing.

Each week’s event starts with a 30-minute dinner and networking opportunity to help participants learn from one another, make contacts and share insights. Each session will wrap with a 30-minute question and answer session allowing attendees to present questions or concerns specific to their ventures.

“The information and expertise that will be available at the Small Business Boot Camp is second to none,” Baker said. “Entrepreneurs typically pay hundreds, even thousands of dollars for workshops that cover just one of these content areas. We’re providing six of them at no cost. It’s an outstanding opportunity every business owner or prospective entrepreneur needs to check out and take advantage of.”

The Small Business Boot Camps are open to all, but space is limited. Interested individuals can visit the City of Cabot web page for more information or click here to register.
