Tovoras Lee said he paid Al’s Roofing Construction and More to repair his roof. He’s waited for months, but the owner has not showed up to do the work.

Lee reached out to KTBS On Your Side to share what he’s gone through so that no one else does.

“You just have to do your own research and know what you’re working with,” said Lee.

It all started when the ArkLaTex suffered a big storm in June. Strong winds caused several trees to crash into Lee’s roof.

So, the father of five called Al’s Roofing Construction and More for help — a decision he says he regrets.

Mold is growing on Lee's celing

Lee says he has mold and rodents in the house because of its condition.

“I instantly tried to find someone to remove the tree from the house. In about a week into it, I found someone to take the tree off the roof. I called Al to do the work for me as far as fixing the roof and everything. He said that he would he came and would charge me $7,500 for it,” said Lee.

Lee was hopeful his home would be back to normal, but he never heard back. It’s been six months.

“It’s been pretty difficult because I have me and my sons. We stay here. We are confined to pretty much one room because all the other rooms are pretty much bad. When it rains, it rains inside. I have knats in the house and the rodents. I’ve never had rats in the house but now I have them and everything else in the house. It’s been a bad situation for me and my kids,” said Lee.

Lee says he has started a GoFundMe to help with the cost of the home repairs as he is in debt.

Celing is still caving in from June's storm

The ceiling is caving in in a portion of the house.

“I don’t have the money to redo it again, so I was just trying to see if I can get some help,” said Lee.

KTBS reached out to Al’s Roofing Construction and More through a telephone call, voicemail and email but did not get a response.

KTBS also called the Better Business Bureau and the Secretary of State. Both confirmed Al’s Roofing Construction and More is not in their system as an LLC and is not an accredited business.
