A new business is preparing to set up shop in 2 Lancer Court in Wellington town centre, after it was vacated by Angie’s Shabby Chic two weeks ago.
Mary’s Attic, a business which recycles and repurposes antique and vintage items, is set to open for business from the site on Saturday, April 15.
Owner, Sher Frendo, quit her job at Coffee #1 in 2021 to take up the reclamation work full-time. With the help of her husband Dom, who works for the Environment Agency, her business has gone from strength to strength.

After a period of trading at markets across Devon and Somerset, and selling on Ebay and Facebook, Sher is now preparing to open a brick and mortar premises for her business.
Sher said: “We recycle and repurpose vintage and unusual items and sell antique items. It’s about anything that’s going to landfill we will repurpose it into something else.
“Mary’s Attic has been going for nearly three years now, it started in the pandemic, I started doing things with stuff I had at home. Friends liked it and said I should start selling and it took off from there really.
“I gave up work toward the end of 2021 and the whole of 2022 I travelled around Devon and Somerset doing various markets, Ive’ been selling through Facebook and Ebay.
“We get bespoke orders, one lady came to us with an old fashion chest which we turned into a gin bar for her. We’ve turned cast iron sewing machine table bases into dining tables with a big slice of wood on top, if we can we will.
Sher also restores and resells antiques like these perfume bottles from the 1970s and ’80s (Mary’s Attic )
“I used to work at Waitrose, the Iron Duke and then I worked in Coffee Number 1 which is the job I gave up to do Mary’s Attic.
“It’s one of those things that’s going to work or it’s not, and if you want to do it, do it. It’s always been a dream.”
On Friday Sher and Dom were hard at work giving the building a fresh lick of paint in reparation for its reopening on April 15. For further information see the Mary’s Attic Facebook page.
