Sensex, Nifty hit all-time high for second session straight; IT, auto stocks lead

Sectorally, Nifty IT climbed 0.79 per cent, the auto index gained 0.78 per cent, the PSU Bank index jumped 0.38 per cent, and the healthcare index gained 0.44 per cent.

Key domestic indices hit new highs at open on Friday, for the second session straight, tracking gains across global markets. BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 250 points to touch 67,774, while broader NSE Nifty50 climbed 55 points to 20,173.

Metal stocks led the rally, as M&M, JSW Steel, Wipro, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, HCL Tech, Bajaj Auto, and Hindalco were top gaining stocks across the key indices, gaining up to 2 per cent.

Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Nestle, Adani Ports, and HDFC Life were among the top losers.

Broader market outperformed key indices, as BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices jumped up to 0.70 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 0.58 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 50 rose 0.56 per cent, Nifty Midcap 100 jumped 0.33 per cent, and Nifty Midcap 50 gained 0.30 per cent.

Sectorally, Nifty IT climbed 0.79 per cent, the auto index gained 0.78 per cent, the PSU Bank index jumped 0.38 per cent, and the healthcare index gained 0.44 per cent. On the flip side, Nifty Realty slipped 0.31 per cent, media index fell 0.29 per cent, FMCG tanked 0.24 per cent, and oil & gas index fell 0.10 per cent.
