Seminar for youth launched in Isabela

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) announced its pilot run of “Youth Entrepreneurship Program, Be Your Own Boss (YEP! BYOB)” that aims to strengthen the capacities of youth in Santiago City, Isabela.

On Saturday, September 30, the DTI, in partnership with the Santiago City local government unit and the local Youth Development Office, said the capacity-building workshop focuses on business ideas and design, presentation of business ideas and plans, and starting businesses by the end of the workshop.

The four-day workshop involves out-of-school youth, persons with disabilities, in-school youth, Indigenous Peoples, and unemployed youth.

“Entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business; it is about embracing innovation, taking calculated risks, and turning challenges into opportunities,” DTI Isabela Officer in Charge Provincial Director Elmer Agorto said.

A total of 27 youths registered in YEP! BYOB, which will also be given a chance to present their business plans through a pitch competition on the last day of the workshop.

“A completed Business Model Canvas template is also expected by the end of the workshop as their output, which will be used as the basis for preparing their pitch speech and presentation deck,” the DTI Region 2 said.

Santiago City Councilor Sherman Miguel supports the DTI for “putting such youth-focused programs in place.”



“Encouraging the participants to take advantage of the program to ignite creativity and cultivate the necessary skills to become entrepreneurs,” he said.
