Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is increasing flight frequencies on several transatlantic routes for the upcoming summer 2024 season.
The carrier plans to increase flights on its Copenhagen-New York (JFK) route from 31 March, 2024, with up to two daily flights on Airbus A321LR aircraft.
Flights from the Danish capital to Boston will become daily from 31 March, up from six times weekly. Flights will be serviced by Airbus A350 aircraft, which, according to the carrier, will double seat capacity on the route.
A fourth weekly flight will also be added from Copenhagen to Toronto, with a new departure time that will “make it easier to connect with flights to and from European and Scandinavian cities”, according to the airline.
From 25 April, 2024, the carrier also plans to add an additional service on routes from Copenhagen to both Shanghai and Tokyo, with frequencies set to increase from three to four times a week.
SAS recently received a $450 million loan after filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US in 2022 and in October announced that Air France-KLM will take a major stake in the airline alongside Castlelake, Lind Invest and the Danish government.
