— The Redhead Creamery, based in rural Brooten, was selected as one of the winners at the World Cheese Awards conducted Oct. 27. The competition, held in Trondheim Spektrum, Norway, saw 4,502 competitors submit cheeses for the coveted title.
Redhead Creamery’s gold award winning cheese was the Lucky Linda Clothbound Cheddar. The creamery’s other entry, St. Anthony, won silver in the hard cow’s milk cheese category.
president Alise Sjostrom noted in a news release that Lucky Linda is named after her mother, adding “The Lucky Linda has really evolved as our cheesemaking team hones our craft.”
The
is an annaul international competition organized by the Guild of Fine Food. Competitors are judged by a panel of critics, chefs, buyers, retailers, journalists and experts. Each cheese is evaluated based on appearance, aroma, body, texture, flavor and mouthfeel.
