Road Travel in US Surges to Seasonal Record in September

Road travel in the US is stronger than any other September as vehicle miles hit a seasonal record, according to Federal Highway Administration data going back to 1998.

Drivers logged 276 billion miles on US roads in September, a 0.9% uptick from a year earlier. Miles driven in the first nine months of this year were up 2.2% despite a sharper-than-usual decline from August miles, government data show.
